"It's more about growing than joining"
Oxford Baptist Church is full of people who enjoy the teaching, the music, or any of the other ministries that make the church a fun and beneficial place to attend. These things, however, do not make one a member. The difference between attenders and members can be summed up in one word: commitment. It's a bit like couples who just date, and those who get married. While becoming a Christian means committing yourself to Christ, becoming a member means committing yourself to other Christians. It is a commitment to a specific group of believers - to practice the "one-anothers" of the New Testament.
At Oxford, we believe that everyone is on a spiritual journey. A big part of our mission is the commitment to help each other take the next step towards God. That's what a disciple is - a growing follower of Jesus Christ.
The membership process is designed to be a personally enriching, discipling step in your ongoing walk with Christ.
